Opportunity Center at Ladd Library

The Opportunity Center at Ladd Library is a partnership between the Cedar Rapids Public Library, Kirkwood Community College, United Way of East Central Iowa and Hawkeye Area Community Action Program.

What Does the Opportunity Center Do?

This unique partnership connects people’s work and career goals with employment opportunities that offer livable wages. It provides resources for education, job training and placement, financial literacy and more that are supported by local employers.

How Can It Help Me?

The Opportunity Center can help with:

  • Filling out job applications
  • Building your resume
  • Choosing a career path
  • Continuing your education
  • Advocating for your child’s physical or mental health needs
  • Applying for assistance for food, child care or the Family Investment Program
  • Finding health care coverage
  • Managing your household expenses
  • Learning more about Social Security work incentives
  • Finding out whether you qualify for energy assistance or other support payments
  • Getting transportation to work or school
  • Feeding your family
