Allsop Computer Lab

The Allsop Computer lab in 131 Nielsen Hall offers quiet study areas and a huge range of technology solutions to help you succeed no matter the assignment. In the lab you'll find: 

  • 105 PCs 
  • 4 iMacs 
  • A copier/printer
  • A high efficiency black and white printer
  • A color printer
  • A 3D printer
  • Two scanners.

No classes or labs are scheduled in the study areas, and the walk-in lab is available for students to do research and homework. Reserve a computer (at least one day ahead) by calling 319-398-5606 or stopping by the Allsop Computer Lab front counter.

You'll need to swipe your EagleCard upon entering/exiting the computer labs. Computer lab hours are subject to change during inclement weather. Same policies and guidelines apply in the computer classrooms.


Fall Semester

  • Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Spring Semester

  • Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summer Session

  • Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Friday 8 a.m. - noon

Information about Printer and Scanner Use

  • One printer/copier is provided for students to use.
  • The PIN is your k-number. Directions are on the printer/copier.
  • One high efficiency black and white printer is available for students to use.
  • One color printer is available for student usage.
  • One 3D printer is available for class projects.
  • Two scanners are provided. One is attached to unit #12. One is attached to unit #85. Directions for students to follow are on both scanners.
  • The Student Help Desk staff can assist students during lab hours.
