Welcome to the Kirkwood Community College Graduation page.
The following information is intended to provide ample opportunity for students, their families, and our community to participate in activities that celebrate the accomplishments of our students. All students planning to continue their education at Kirkwood are encouraged to participate in commencement upon completion of their final degree.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both the in-person commencement ceremony and the grad fair have been cancelled. The college will host a virtual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16, to celebrate the achievements of our 2020 graduates. More details will be released soon.

Virtual Commencement FAQs
What is a virtual commencement ceremony?
A virtual commencement ceremony celebrates your academic achievement in an online format, allowing you to share this special moment with your loved ones near and far. The ceremony will include:
- A custom slide for each graduate that lists your name and degree, as well as your picture and a personalized message to your family, friends, or Kirkwood community.
- The announcement of your name, signifying your “walk across the stage”.
- Inspiring messages from President Sundberg and representatives from Kirkwood’s board, faculty, and student body.
How do I sign up to participate in the virtual ceremony?
In order to have your custom slide and name announcement included in the virtual commencement ceremony, students who have already applied for graduation can sign up by Friday, April 24
. Visit the Login Page
, click Register, and enter your Kirkwood student email (firstname.lastname@example.org
). You will then receive a link to set up your password and complete the registration form.
If you would like your slide to include a photo, please have an image ready to upload in .jpg or .png format. If you would like to include a personalized message to your loved ones, you will have the opportunity to submit your message during the registration process (up to 150 characters).

Credentials you can use!
If you're close to graduating from Kirkwood but will transfer to a four-year school prior to graduating, have your new school send your transcript back to us once you finish the classes that will complete your Kirkwood degree.
Or, if you are planning to attend one of Iowa's three public universities, choose the "Reverse Transfer" option on your application. Doing this will let that school know that you would like your transcript sent to Kirkwood to complete degree requirements. Your Kirkwood degree looks great on a resume!
