Mark your calendars for Safety Awareness Week, March 9 - March 13! Multiple events will be held on main campus promoting safety at Kirkwood. In addition, the college’s regional centers will have a chance to participate too. If you attend any event throughout the week, you’ll be able to enter your name into a prize drawing! Here are the details:
Monday, March 9
Iowa Hall 2nd floor from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Meet the safety and sustainability groups at Kirkwood! Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and ask any questions they may have about safety and sustainability initiatives at Kirkwood. Departments attending: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS); Public Safety; Risk; and more.
In addition to the meet-and-greet, there will be four spot-the-hazard stations set up to highlight safe and unsafe practices of:
Tuesday, March 10
Iowa Hall 2nd floor from 11 a.m. - 1p.m.
Use a VR headset to practice using a fire extinguisher, winter driving safety, and more!
Food will be available.
Thursday, March 12
Linn Hall 2nd floor balcony 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Use a mannequin to practice CPR! Volunteers will be present for you to practice applying first aid.
Mini First Aid Kit: Throughout the week, you’ll have an opportunity to build your own mini first aid kit! For each event you attend, you’ll receive a first aid kit item to add to your bag.
Prize Drawing: Each event you attend your name will be placed in a prize drawing! Winners will be notified on Friday, March 13.
Regional centers will have an opportunity to participate in Safety Awareness Week by participating in a scavenger hunt and be entered into the prize drawing!
