Faculty and Staff Opportunities

Global Learning encourages everyone in our campus and community to be involved. There are many opportunities.

Be a Mentor Family

Kirkwood welcomes hundreds of international students to our community each year. The people they meet and live with here will shape their futures and the futures of their home communities. Mentor families experience new learning about the world, caring and nurturing relationships, a deepening sense of culture, and the joy of forming global friendships. Mentor families also provide students with the knowledge of a typical life in the United States. You could change the life of an international student and make a difference in your community. If you're interested or have questions, email international@kirkwood.edu or call 319-398-5579.

Volunteer

Volunteer with Global Learning! Call 319-398-5579 or email international@kirkwood.edu to learn about opportunities like:

  • Volunteering for campus events
  • International Week planning in November

Internationalization at Home (IAH) activities

Kirkwood offers faculty opportunities to lead study abroad programs as one way to get students actively engagee in cultural learning. Just as essential, if not more, is to provide academic cultural learning experiences right here on campus. Faculty can internationalize their classroom and curriculum in many ways. Faculty can engage their students in Virtual Exchange, Kirkwood Academic Cultural Exchange (K-ACE) and other faculty development experiences with global learning. See Kirkwood's KIN site under Faculty Resources for more information.

Support Global Learning and Intercultural Exchange

Kirkwood provides scholarships for study abroad programs and international students. Contribute to scholarship funds to keep providing these opportunities.
