Kirkwood’s College/Career Transition Counselors (CCTCs) are here to help you find the next step to your future.
High school seniors at partner schools can get help from a CCTC on:
Exploring Colleges
- Build your college list
- Set up visits to campuses and meetings with admissions counselors
Applying for College Admission
- Get individual and small-group support applying to college, including writing college essays and completing college applications
Navigating Financial Aid
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and scholarship applications
- Gain financial planning skills
- Review financial aid awards
Finding a Career
- Identify your interests and abilities and how they match with potential careers
- Get connected with career speakers and workplace tours
- Apply for job shadows and internships
Other Support Services
- CCTCs host workshops and seminars on topics such as postsecondary pathways, entrance exam (ACT/SAT) preparation, and career services
To Participate
To be eligible, you should meet one of the following requirements:
- student with disabilities
- student from economically disadvantaged families, including low-income students
- student preparing for non-traditional fields
- single parents, including single, pregnant women
- English learners
- students experiencing homelessness
- students who are in foster care
- students with a parent who is a member of the armed services and on active duty
- migrant student
