Kirkwood Student Leadership Council (SLC) is the events and activities crew for the college. This group of student leaders plans and promotes events across campus. They also volunteer to set up and clean up events, serve food, hand out t-shirts and other tasks that help promote events at Kirkwood.
The SLC attends a Leadership Retreat each September and a student leadership conference each November where they pick out comedians, musicians, and other entertainers for future events. They attend a legislative event in Des Moines during the year.
The group also organizes a handful of community services activities, including Adopt-A-Highway, the annual food drive, the holiday giving campaign, and a toilet paper drive.
This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, build up your resume, and have a lot of fun. Some students enjoy the community service events while others enjoy organizing events. The best part of being a member is the opportunity to participate in a variety of on- and off-campus activities.
