If you are not ready to commit to the Navigating Your Journey full-service option, we have some other ways to help you get started.
Knowing your interests is a great way to narrow your job search or help you identify what training you may want to pursue to qualify for the job you want.

Career Coach

Career Coach is an online survey tool that can help you identify your interests and how they align with job opportunities. Take either a quick six-question survey or a more detailed 60-question survey.

Career One Stop offers a three-pronged assessment to help you identify careers that align with your natural skills, interests, and work values.

Self-Assessments

Kirkwood Career Services

Kirkwood students can meet with a counselor after completing the self-exploration process and assessments available on the Kirkwood Career Services website. They will help to interpret the results of your assessments and ask you the important questions to help narrow down the list of occupations and careers.

Need Help With the Cost?

Kirkwood Community College offers tuition assistance for eligible individuals enrolled in 4-week courses up to 4-year degree programs. Kirkwood also offers tuition and support services for in-demand career fields. Explore these lists of our GAP Tuition Assistance Program and GAP 2 Tuition Assistance Program for credit and non-credit course examples.

Free Training Pathways for In-Demand Jobs

Don’t let money discourage you from getting training. Need-based funding is available for short-term certificate programs for jobs that are hiring.

Expanded Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is available toward certificates and diplomas for college credit in the areas of: Fundamentals of Automotive Technology Certificate, Entry-Level Firefighter Certificate, Fire Science Certificate, CAD Certificate, Healthcare IT Technician, Desktop Customer Service Diploma,Tech Support Specialist Diploma, IT Basics, .NET Programming, Java Programming, Web Development, Web Design, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Project Management, Retail Marketing, Sales, Social Media Marketing, and Technical Accounting.

 

Eligibility

  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must have a high degree of self-discipline, determination, and a desire to succeed
