Regional Centers Delivery 

If you attend one of Kirkwood’s regional centers and don’t have what you need, don’t worry! You can request library materials such as books or DVDs from main campus to be delivered to your center.

Contact your regional center for delivery dates and times. If you request an article via Kirkwood’s Library Search, we will send it to your faculty/student email.

Meet the Cedar Rapids Library Staff

Arron Wings

Library Dean


Arron earned a B.S. (Criminal Justice) and J.D. from the University of Nebraska, and a Masters of Library Science from the University of Iowa. He is an avid bicyclist and lives in Iowa City with his wife and 2 dogs and 2 cats.


Andres Calvopina
Library Assistant
Born in Quito Ecuador, he came to Iowa for an exchange year in 2005 and it soon became his second home. Graduated from Simpson College with a B.A. in International Relations. Worked for an international oil and gas company in Houston for 2 years before coming back to Iowa and joining the Kirkwood Library staff in 2017.

Yolanda Hasler
Library Assistant
Born in Mexico City, Yolanda came to the United States in 1967 where she worked in human resources for Montgomery Ward for 16 years. After this, she worked for Wal-Mart's human resources for 14 years. In September 2013, Yolanda began working in the Circulation Department of the library. Her favorite hobby is reading and she has a General Business degree which she earned in 1961.


Sarah Young
Department Assistant
Sarah earned a B.A. in art history from Lawrence University. She joined the Kirkwood Library as a library assistant in 2016 and became a department assistant in 2017.

Joseph McKinley
Reference Librarian
Joseph McKinley earned his MLIS from the University of Iowa, a M.M. in piano performance from The New England Conservatory of Music, and a B.M. in music performance from the University of Iowa. He enjoys digging into databases, computers, keyboards, video games, athletic activities, science-fiction and loves helping students gain new insights into research methods and tools.


Julie Petersen
Reference Librarian
Benton Hall - Library
Julie holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Library Science. After all that was completed, she then earned an Associate of Science degree from Kirkwood. Before coming to Kirkwood, Julie worked many years in a corporate library. She enjoys opportunities for continuing education and is super excited to be working in the academic environment at Kirkwood where she can learn something new everyday and help others do the same.


Ryan Strempke-Durgin
Collection Services Librarian
Ryan received a bachelor's from Boise State University in English with a minor in Philosophy. He attended library school at the University of Iowa and obtained his MLS in 2011. Since then, he has worked at the Kirkwood Library.


Sarah Uthoff
Reference Librarian

Sarah earned both her undergraduate degree in History Education and her MLS from the University of Iowa. In her varied career she has worked in both public and school libraries. She began working at the Kirkwood Library in 2003.

Jill Miller

Library Archivist


Jill earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati, a M.A. in Library Science from the University of Iowa. She began at Kirkwood as a part-time librarian in January 1978, was circulation librarian from 1978-1984, instructional services librarian from 1984-1987, library director from 1987-1996, and college archivist from 1997-present.


Shelley Schultz
Library Technical Specialist
Shelley began working at the Kirkwood Library in March of 1986. She is the Library System Administrator in charge of maintaining the online databases and performing computer troubleshooting. She supervises and assists with cataloging.


Cindy Wiese
Circulation Coordinator

Cindy is the Circulation Coordinator at the Cedar Rapids campus library. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Mankato State University. She joined the Library staff in 2005.
