|Kirkwood’s music program puts students' musical talent in the spotlight with opportunities to study music both inside and outside the classroom. The classroom is made up of dedicated instructors, scholars and active performers who all have a passion for music. Course offerings include vocal music, instrumental music, music history and music theory.
If your interests take you straight to the stage, consider Kirkwood’s auditioned vocal ensembles, all of which are internationally acclaimed and nationally recognized for high standards of performance. If you’re a instrumentalist, join a jazz ensemble or the concert band. Highly acclaimed professional musicians come to Kirkwood each year to play with these groups. Students are encouraged to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible during their time at Kirkwood.
As a Liberal Arts student, you will fulfill core humanities requirements while choosing electives in music. Kirkwood has transfer agreements with all three state universities and many other four-year institutions for those students interested in transferring and earning a bachelors degree in music.
My favorite part about Kirkwood Music is the quality of the
instructors. They are experts in their field and make themselves as
accessible as possible to their students. They care about your success, and don't hesitate to lend advice or help you if your are stuggling.
