The Financial Literacy Fair is the culminating activity for middle school students who have studied financial literacy in school along with career exploration. During their studies, students learn how to create and keep a budget as well as the importance of saving money. They will also explore careers based on their skills and interests. From this exploration they will choose a career, determine the starting salary and associated taxes, and receive a monthly paycheck to use at the Financial Literacy Fair.
We are looking for volunteers to staff the booths at the fair. The students stop at the booths to buy Transportation, Food, Utilities, Housing, etc. based on their budget. Just like in real life, students will experience unexpected bills or windfalls at the Wheel of Reality. At the end of the fair, they will meet with a financial counselor to discuss their financial decisions. You will be working with a group of volunteers and all of the materials will be provided to you the day of the fair. No experience necessary. This is a learning experience for the students and a fun experience for the volunteers.
