The Sponsored Programs Office (SPO) is positioned to help faculty, staff, and administrators navigate the institutional grantsmanship process, through the following stages:

• Concept Development:  helping Kirkwood employees to mature ideas into outcome-based projects, and matching projects to funding opportunities
• Pre-Award:  submitting competitive applications that are in synch with the college mission
• Post-Award:  managing and closing awards, emphasizing sustainability through alternative funding mechanisms

The SPO staff works closely with Grants Accounting, under the Financial Management department, and Institutional Research, under the Institutional Effectiveness department.  SPO is also under Institutional Effectiveness.
