TRIO Upward Bound Math-Science (UBMS) is a year-round college readiness program designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating high school students.
The program aims to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and encourage them to pursue college degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Participants of TRIO UBMS attend all functions and activities at no cost to them.
TRIO UBMS is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
To be eligible for TRIO Upward Bound, participants must:
*A first-generation college student is one whose parents have not completed a four-year college program.

The Resident Summer Academy gives students an opportunity to live on Mount Mercy University campus and experience life as a college student.
Students attend academic classes in the morning at Kirkwood, participate in STEM enrichment activities in the afternoon, engage in a variety of entertaining workshops in the evening, and go on cultural trips. The program is FREE to all UBMS students.
