STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
|What is SLC?
Kirkwood Student Leadership Council (SLC) is essentially the events and activities crew for the college. This group of student leaders plans and promotes events across campus.
What does SLC do?
Student Leadership Council meets weekly (Wednesday afternoons), but spends most of the time helping at campus events and activities. This includes promoting events on campus, setting up/cleaning up events, serving food, handing out t-shirts, or a number of other things.
These students also attend a Leadership Retreat each September, attend a student leadership conference each November (where they pick out comedians, musicians & other entertainers for future events), and attend a legislative event in Des Moines. The group also organizes a handful of community services activities including Adopt-A-Highway, annual food drive, holiday giving campaign and toilet paper drive.
What are the benefits of joining SLC?
This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, build up a resume, and have a lot of fun. Some students enjoy the community service events while others enjoy organizing events. The best part of being a member is the opportunity to participate in a variety of both on- and off-campus activities.
How do I get started?
Join us at the Student Leadership Kickoff coming up on Tuesday, September 3.
