Monday, August 10th

TALON Basics | 3:00 PM
This session covers how to upload and organize course content, set-up gradebook, and communicate with students using the e-mail and announcement tools.
 
Getting Started | 4:00 P.M.
Regardless of the format in which you will be delivering your class this fall, we want to help you start the semester right with ideas for collaboration and creating a sense of community with your students.
 

CurriQunet, EagleNet and FERPA | 5:00 P.M.

Join Kirkwood Registrar, Dena Rauch for a live session covering Syllabus/CurriQunet, Roster/EagleNet, Grading/EagleNet and FERPA Q/A.
 

Accessibility and Academic Services | 6:00 P.M.
Accommodation Services offers a variety of supports to students that have a documented need for academic accommodation as mandated by the American With Disabilities act. Discover your role in securing an equitable learning environment for your students and learn more about our new Faculty Accommodations Portal that is designed to make your involvement in the accommodation process more efficient and accessible.

 

Tuesday, August 11th

Testing Center and Tutoring | 5:00 P.M.
Tutoring services offers support to learners who need additional assistance in a variety of subjects. Learn more on how to refer students to Tutor for pay or for students seeking Tutoring assistance, discover the resources available in our lab and encourage students to utilize our no cost service. Additionally, we will discuss changes to the Tutoring model as we continue to work through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The main campus Test Center in Cedar Hall is the hub of testing operations throughout the entirety of Kirkwood’s seven county area and has in the past, hosted a variety of testing opportunities for our students and members of our community. However, in order to provide a safe and healthy testing environment many changes are taking place in the Test Center. Please join me in discovering what new changes are being made in the testing environment, and allow me to introduce myself as your new Test Center Coordinator.
 
Academic Affairs Response to COVID-19 | 6:00 P.M.
COVID-19 has changed nearly every aspect of our teaching and learning practices and environment in the last six months. Wondering how all these changes and new expectations will impact you this fall? Attend this session to learn more about the planning that has occurred, the changes you can expect, and the safety protocols in place for fall. Bring your questions!
 
Public Safety/Security Services | 7:00 P.M.
This public safety presentation will focus on current projects designed to enhance public safety services at Kirkwood. We will also discuss best practices for when to contact Public Safety and best methods. Potential training opportunities and emergency management items will also be addressed.
 
TRIO SSS | 7:00 P.M.
I will provide an overview of the federal grant funded TRIO Program. This will include how we identify students who are eligible for the program and the services we are required to provide. I will take questions and share how best to refer students to the program.
 
KCELT | 7:45 P.M.
Learn what professional learning opportunities KCELT has to offer you during this upcoming year and what kind of support you can get from the KCELT staff.

Get to Know Iowa City Campus | 5:15 P.M.
The Iowa City Campus sits in the heart of Hawkeye country and provides a variety of course and program opportunities for our students. Join me to learn about what we offer as well as the students we serve. There will also be time for Q&A.
 
Library | 6:00 P.M.
This year, like everyone else, Library Services has made some changes in how we do things. We're planning to focus on remote services and what the library does best. We're going to tell you what you can expect from Library Services this year and provide an overview of the amazing things you didn't know we can help you with at the library.
 
Dean of Students | 7:00 P.M.
The Dean of Students will provide an overview of how the Dean of Students Office can support yuor work with students. We will cover hot topics like student assistance and managing disruptive behaviors, but will also leave time for your questions.
 
Departmental Meetings | 7:45 P.M.
