Mike has been involved in health care and health care education for more than 15 years. Mike worked as a paramedic and a flight paramedic for EMS agencies in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. He still works part-time as a paramedic for Keokuk County Ambulance Service in Sigourney, Iowa.

Mike came to Kirkwood as a Health Science adjunct faculty member in 1995. He became the director of Health Occupations for Continuing Education at Kirkwood Community College in 2002 and in 2008 was named the director of the Kirkwood Healthcare Simulation Center. Mike, his wife, their two boys and two dogs live in rural Solon.

Angi has been in the healthcare field for over fourteen years. She started working part time in the simulation center in 2013 and in April of 2015 she joined the staff full time as the Simulation Specialist and A/V Technician. Angi has over eight years of experience in emergency/trauma working in St. Luke’s Emergency Department before coming to Kirkwood.

Dr. Ryan Sundermann

Ryan Sundermann is an emergency room physician at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ryan received his medical education at the University of Iowa and completed his residency in Detroit, Michigan. Ryan has experience in prehospital medicine as a medic and Green Beret and serves as the medical director for Lifeguard Air Ambulance, Kirkwood Community College's EMS Training Program, and many other services and agencies.
