|Are you ready to make an impact on the next generation of learners? Do you have a strong passion for working with young children? Early Childhood Education at Kirkwood is an excellent program choice, focusing on the care and education of young children. You will gain knowledge about child development, nutrition, safety, and appropriate childhood curriculum and environments.
The Early Childhood Education interest area is very hands-on and allows you many opportunities to participate in a variety of community early childhood programs, including Head Start centers, kindergarten classrooms, state funded four-year-old programs and child care settings. Coursework is focused on various aspects of childhood education including technology, health and safety, curriculum, development, and guidance.
As a Liberal Arts student, you will take core requirements while choosing fascinating electives in early childhood education. While Kirkwood has special agreements with all three state universities for students interested in transferring with an Associate of Arts degree, some students choose other four-year institutions to continue their education. Whatever your path, transferring and earning a degree in early childhood education couldn’t be easier or more affordable.
The Early Childhood Education program at Kirkwood provided me with
many hands-on classroom experiences and a solid knowledge of theory
and development to guide my teaching. I felt completely prepared when
I stepped into my first teaching job after the program. I would highly
recommend it to anyone interesting in teaching young children.
