Dig into the booming geospatial technology industry with Kirkwood’s Agricultural Geospatial Technology degree. Kirkwood’s program is one of just a handful of precision agriculture programs in the nation, and it’s the only one that lets you specialize in dealership/equipment or agronomy careers.
This two-year program includes courses in Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), analysis and data collection, agronomy, and computers. You’ll also complete an internship.
This degree can apply to many career areas and can be customized as needed. A strong background in math and science is recommended for this program.
Kirkwood offers more than $3 million in scholarships for students each year.
Graduates of the Agricultural Geospatial Technology program will be able to:
A one-hour program conference is required prior to acceptance to the program. You'll learn more about the program, specific admissions requirements and have the opportunity to have questions answered by program faculty and staff.
To get into the Ag Geospatial Technology program, you must complete the following, in addition to Kirkwood’s steps to become a student:
At Kirkwood, you’ll learn in state-of-the-art facilities like the Ag Geospatial Lab, which has dual screen student workstations, and the Ag Diesel Equipment Lab, where you’ll work on large machinery projects.
Kirkwood also has an 800-acre working farm where you can learn the farm and natural resource applications of precision technology hands-on.
In spring semesters, a study abroad opportunity lets you learn about Brazilian agriculture.
“There’s something for everybody here. They genuinely care about you, they want you to succeed. What you get here is outstanding.”
Taylor Burke,
Walker, Iowa
The Agricultural Geospatial Technology program prepares students by developing skills in problem solving and decision making. Students learn how technology is utilized through the process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting production data.
