Applying for International Admission

We're excited to have you at Kirkwood! To get started, F-1 international students must complete the International Student Admission Process to enroll in classes at Kirkwood.

The International Student Admission Process looks slightly different for each of the three main types of international students that study at Kirkwood (See step 3 below to determine which process is correct for you).

Easy Step By Step Application Process

First, you'll need to officially apply to become a student at Kirkwood. Complete your application to start the admission process.

Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email with a link to our International Student Portal. Click the link you receive and log in with the k-number and password provided in the email.

The International Student Portal includes a personalized checklist, showing your admission requirements and application status. Complete your admission requirements by uploading the following clear and legible documents:

To Attend Kirkwood Full-Time

For the admissions process, you'll need: 

  • High School Graduate Transcript
  • Passport Page Copy
  • Kirkwood Financial Statement Form
  • English Proficiency and/or Test Scores

 

To Transfer to Kirkwood

For the admissions process, you'll need:

  • High School Graduate OR Transfer School Transcript
  • Passport Page Copy
  • Visa Page Copy
  • I-94 Copy
  • I-20 Copy
  • Kirkwood Financial Statement Form
  • English Proficiency and/or Test Scores
  • SEVIS Transfer Form

 

To Attend Kirkwood as a Guest Student

For the admissions process, you'll need:

  • English Proficiency and/or Test Scores
  • Passport Page Copy
  • Visa Page Copy
  • I-94 Copy
  • I-20 Copy

When all documents are received in the International Student Portal and reviewed by our International Admission Team, you will be notified of your status and/or acceptance via email.

If you are a new college student coming directly from home, we will send you an official letter of acceptance and the I-20 Welcome Packet by email and by postal mail.

After you receive your packet, make an appointment at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate nearest you. Take your I-20 Welcome Packet and Acceptance Letter along with official versions of your financial statement and documents to obtain the F-1 visa. The Consular Official interviewing you will want to know your plan for your study in the United States.

If you are a transfer or guest student, you will receive an email notification about your admission.
