The 24th Kirkwood Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024

To nominate a student, advisor, or group on campus – Simply fill out the form below and hit submit. Contact Student Life at 319-398-5578 with any questions you might have along the way.

A list of awards given out in the past is located at the bottom of the page. Please fill out a separate nomination form for multiple nominations.  A well written nomination will increase the chances of the recipient winning the award.  Someone who types a sentence or two for a nomination doesn't show the committee that the recipient is very deserving.

Advisor/Staff Awards:

Outstanding Advisor
This award is presented to an outstanding advisor to a club or organization. Someone who goes out of his/her way to make their group successful. They care about the members and supervise the activities put on by the club/organization. This person must demonstrate dedication and an ability to connect with every member of the organization.

Impact Award
Presented to an employee of Kirkwood who goes above and beyond their duty to make the lives of students better. Someone who has the ability to make an impact on students through involvement outside the classroom.

Club/Organization/Team Awards

Most Active Club/Organization
This award goes to a club/organization who has hosted a variety of activities around campus and the community.

Most Memorable Event
This award goes to a club/organization/group on campus whose activity/program/fundraiser has left a lasting impression in the minds of many.

Outstanding Educational Event
This award is presented to a club/organization that held a successful educational event at some point throughout the school year. This event must have had some sort of education purpose/message for students/others in attendance.

Community Service Award
This award goes to a club/organization/team who has participated in Community Service. The basis for nomination could be on the number of community service events throughout the year, or could be based on one outstanding event.

Student Awards

Outstanding Non-Traditional Student
Presented to a student who is attending Kirkwood that has excelled both inside and outside of the classroom, despite being a non-traditional student.

Outstanding Club/Organization Leader
Presented to a member of a club/organization who possesses a leadership role with the club. This person must be a role model for the club, helping to organize and participate in most of the club’s activities. This person must have devoted much time and dedication to the group and strived to make the group better.

Outstanding Musician
Presented to a student who participates in instrumental or vocal music at Kirkwood. Preferably a student who has previously participated in Kirkwood’s musical events and performances.  Nominations must come from a faculty or staff member in the Music/Theatre department.

Outstanding Artist
Presented to a student who possesses excellent artistic capabilities.

Outstanding International Student
Presented to an international student for being a great representative of Kirkwood's international student body.

Sports MVP
Presented to a student-athlete on each athletic team. Nominations must come from a member of the coaching staff for each specific sport.

Additional Notes:

Some awards can be presented to multiple winners. Many of these multiple winning awards could be split between male/female or club/organization, etc. Examples would be… “Outstanding Male Advisor to a Club” or “Outstanding Female Advisor to an Organization”

You can gladly submit a nomination for an award that is not listed above, although it will be at the decision of the Awards Banquet Committee on the number and exact awards that will be given this year.

The banquet is put on annually by Kirkwood's Student Life and Activities Council.
