Healthiest State Walk
Date/Time: October 4th, Noon - 1 p.m.
Location: Cedar Rapids Main Campus
Description: Step it up at the Healthiest State Walk!
Got 30 minutes? Then you’ve got time to help Iowa on its mission to improve its general well-being. The Healthiest State Initiative’s goal is to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. One of the ways to reach that goal is by bringing communities together with an organized Healthiest State Walk in all of Iowa’s 99 counties.
This year, the Healthiest State Walk, presented by Delta Dental of Iowa, is pushing us to “Step It Up” and walk for 30 minutes. Thirty minutes of physical activity is proven to improve not only physical health but also social and emotional health. Kirkwood Wellness encourages you to take this first step in building a healthy lifestyle.
Before the October 5 walk, we also encourage employees to participate in the #WhyIWalk pledge by writing down their own reason for incorporating walking into their daily routine in the long run. These pledges can be shared via photos on social media using the hashtags #StepItUpIowa and #WhyIWalk.
Join us on Wednesday, October 5 as we participate in the Healthiest State Walk, where Kirkwood will be joining thousands of Iowans across the state to walk for 30 minutes in support of the Healthiest State Initiative.
The walk will begin at noon and will end approximately 30 minutes later at the walking track across from Johnson Hall. Refreshments will be served afterward.
The walk officially starts at noon, but please join us a few minutes early for a group/company photo.
We look forward to seeing you all there to “Step It Up” and continue making strides for Iowa to become a healthier state. Be sure to share pictures of your walk and with your pledge form
on social media using #StepItUpIowa and #WhyIWalk! With your support, we can become a better Iowa.
