1. Apply — it’s free and fast. Select one of the available online degrees, and you’ll receive more information about completing the admission process. Apply now!
After you apply, you will receive a welcome letter in the mail with your temporary EagleCard attached. On the front of the card is your name and Kirkwood "k" number. Learn more about your k number.

Some programs have additional requirements. You will receive information from the program that will detail the steps to be accepted. Make sure you check your e-mail and postal mail!
2. Establish your EagleNet password. EagleNet is an online program Kirkwood students use to manage their academic careers at Kirkwood. Go to EagleNet, click on "EagleNet for Students," then click "Establish My Password."
3. Sign up for your required Kirkwood e-mail account. It's free, and much of your correspondence with us will come in the form of e-mail.
4. Take our required placement exams or submit your ACT scores to the Test Center. Math scores are valid for two years; reading and writing scores remain valid for three years. Click here to see required scores. If you aren't able to take the placement exam at one of Kirkwood's locations, call the Test Center at 319-398-5456 or fill out this form to schedule the test at a location more convenient to you.
5. Identify your program's academic advisor. From the main Online Degrees Web page, click on the program you plan to take. Become familiar with the courses required in your program, the prerequisites for courses and the general semester by semester plan. Remember that you can contact the person listed for advising help.
6. Apply for financial aid (U.S. citizens only) and scholarships. Every year, we award more than $1.7 million in scholarships, and more than 60 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid.
7. Verify that your computer is ready for online classes. Check out the computer requirements (bottom right of the page) to make sure your computer works with the online software. If you have any questions about these requirements call 319-398-7621 or 1-800-505-5221.
8. Register for classes. When you use Eaglenet to sign up for your online classes, specify the location as "ATAW." For help, click here.
9. If you'd like, you can get a permanent EagleCard. You can trade in your temporary card for your permanent Kirkwood ID EagleCard after you register for class. This is completely optional.
10. Buy your books in person at the Kirkwood Bookstore or online at www.kirkwood.edu/bookstore. Books are available 10 days prior to the start of each semester.
