Credit Hour Transfer
If you’re planning to transfer to a four-year college or university after attending Kirkwood, you’re in good company. Each year hundreds of students transfer their Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees to four-year institutions in Iowa and across the country. We refer to it as the Smart Start – your first two years of college in a supportive, affordable atmosphere that builds your skills while giving your mind a healthy challenge to prepare you for the next steps.
Transferring on? We encourage you to plan ahead. Check with the Advising and Transfer Center (108 Iowa Hall, 319-398-5540 or 1-800-332-2055, ext. 5540) and your transfer school before selecting your classes to ensure a smooth transfer process.
Incoming Transfer Students
When examining transcripts from other colleges and universities, Kirkwood follows the recommendation of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. Kirkwood may accept the credit earned at another school provided our evaluation determines the work was:
Part of the curriculum of an associate degree program equivalent to any of the associate degrees offered by Kirkwood; or
For a bachelor’s degree or part of a baccalaureate program.
Contact Enrollment Services (2nd Floor Kirkwood Hall, 319-398-5635 or 1-800-332-2055, ext. 5635) for more information about incoming transfer credit.
