A First Step Towards a Bachelor’s Degree

Kirkwood is a great place to start your education. We work tirelessly to ensure your course work transfers to Iowa's universities, as well as many other colleges and universitites. This allows you to get an affordable start on a four-year degree, all in the comfort of a small, friendly campus.

The Arts and Sciences curriculum is designed to broaden and challenge students’ knowledge in a variety of disciplines and to prepare students for successful transfer to a four-year institution.

Students in the Arts and Sciences earn an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or Associate of Science/Career Option degree. These degrees are the equivalent of the first two years of study required by four-year colleges and universities, and the degrees include core course work students need to complete before concentrating on their major field of study. The associate degree program also offers a variety of elective courses that enrich and complement the required curriculum.

Students can complete their first two years in the Arts and Sciences at Kirkwood, then transfer to a four-year college or university to complete their bachelor’s degree:
