Doug received his bachelor's degree in Speech and Theatre from Hamline University and his master's degree from Mankato State University. From 1975 to 1984, Doug was designer and technical director for the Cedar Rapids Community Theatre. Since the fall of 1984, he has served in a similar capacity at Kirkwood. Doug also teaches Public Speaking, Stagecraft and Introduction to Theatre. Doug has done guest design work at the University of South Dakota, Springfield (Missouri) Little Theatre, the University of Southwest Missouri, and the Dance Theatre of the Hemispheres and most recently the Riverside Theatre in Iowa City.

Rick Anderson is director of theatre Prior to coming to Kirkwood, he taught in area high schools. His degrees include an A.A. from Iowa Central Community College, and B.A. and M.A. in Theatre Arts and Communication from the University of Northern Iowa. Rick teaches speech, acting, and humanities courses at Kirkwood in addition to directing three theatre productions each year.

Jacki Brucher Moore received her M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Iowa with an emphasis on Language and Gender Studies. She is particularly interested in how people understand and talk about their experiences. Her graduate research provided a qualitative assessment of how female students talked about their experiences in higher education. She teaches Fundamentals of Oral Communication on Kirkwood’s main campus, as well as, at the Marion and Resource Centers. Jacki lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband, two children, a dog and a growing collection of hippos.

Timothy Feldkamp received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Fort Hays State University and his Masters of Music Education degree from Wichita State University. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone and Woodwind Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Feldkamp is currently the coordinator of instrumental music activities at Kirkwood. Under his direction, the music program has grown to two jazz ensembles, four jazz combos, chamber ensembles, and a concert band. The jazz ensembles have received superior ratings at prestigious jazz festivals throughout the United States and perform regularly in the state of Iowa.

Jane Grabowski received her BA in Speech from Northern Kentucky University and her MA in Communication from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has taught in higher education since 1982. During those years she has taught at state universities, private liberal arts colleges, and a private all female college. She has been teaching at Kirkwood since the fall of 2005. Jane teaches public speaking and fundamentals of communication for the Arts and Humanities department.

Jane has been married for as long as she has been teaching. She and her husband, Chuck, have one daughter, a dog who looks like an overgrown guinea pig and a cat named Mr. Kitty.

Lydia has a PhD in philosophy from the City University of New York Graduate Center in NYC. Her area of specialty is in the philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology. Prior to returning to her native home of Iowa, Lydia was teaching philosophy and interdisciplinary courses in the humanities and sciences at colleges in and around the New York City area. Lydia teaches Encounters in Humanities, Working in America, and Culture and Technology.

Ray is the director of Choral Activities at Kirkwood. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from the University of Dubuque. He received a masters degree in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is working toward his doctoral degree in choral conducting at the University of Iowa. He previously served as Associate Choral Director at Iowa State University. Ray has served as musical director for more than 20 productions with high schools and community theatres throughout Iowa, and toured as musical director with a professional company. His jazz choirs have recorded two C.D. s and have won numerous awards. In 1999, his group Jazz Transit was invited to perform for the International Jazz Educators Association, and in January of 2000, his other jazz group R.S.V.P. performed for the International Association of Jazz Educators Millenium Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Susan Skoglund earned her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Iowa. She was also conferred the "Diplome superieur d'etudes francaises de 3e degre" from the Universite de Rouen, France. Conifer Smith received her initial ceramics training as an apprentice to a potter in Kentucky. She began teaching ceramics in 1976 at the Octagon Art Center in Ames, Iowa. Her degrees include a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in Ceramics from Iowa State University. In addition to ceramics, her academic interests include jewelry, metalsmithing, fibers multicultural art, and sculpture. Conifer Smith teaches Ceramics and Sculpture courses at Kirkwood.

Andrew Yarne is teaching “Fundamentals of Oral Communication.” He earned a B.S. in Industrial Education with a concentration in Materials and Processes; a B.S. in Communication with a minor in Philosophy; an M.S. in Vocational, Trade, and Industrial Education; an M.A. in Communicating Arts and Speech Communication; and an Ed.S. in Industrial and Vocational Education with a specialization in Professional Education with an emphasis in Training and Development within the University of Wisconsin system. As an Australian resident, Andrew taught Industrial Technology simultaneously in two high schools in Perth for two years. In Amboy, Illinois, he taught Industrial Technology in high school, before working in Cedar Rapids, as a design engineer at Rockwell, where he was awarded two patents and a meritorious achievement award. While being at Kirkwood since 1996, he has taught “Group Communication” and “Public Speaking.” Andrew was named twice in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.” He is a member of Kirkwood Keynotes Toastmasters International and has earned four Distinguished Toastmaster awards.
