Advisor and Student Expectations | Meet Our Staff | FAQ
At Kirkwood Community College, students' rights are protected through a federal law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
This means that what they discuss with their advisor remains confidential (unless the student shares a concern regarding his or her health and
safety or the health and safety of another individual). We welcome communication from parents and are happy to answer general questions about
Kirkwood procedures, resources and academic programs. If a student would like his or her academic advisor to be able to discuss confidential
information about the student with another individual, s/he will need to complete a Consent a Release for Education Records form.
