Andrea has been with Kirkwood since 2003, spending her first two years in Business and I.T. before moving to Industrial Tech. Prior to that, she was a social worker in Omaha, Nebraska. Andrea works primarily with the construction, transportation, and fire science programs in Industrial Tech.

Ana Stomp has been with Kirkwood since May of 2008. Before coming to Industrial Technologies she worked with local businesses promoting the use of the National Career Readiness Certificate through Kirkwood’s Skills Advantage program. Ana has worked with many local businesses providing job analysis and training support, primarily in the manufacturing sector. Ana works primarily with the Advanced Manufacturing degree programs in her role at Kirkwood.

Sue has been with Kirkwood since March of 2014. Before coming to Industrial Technologies, she worked part-time in the Business and I.T. Department as an Office Assistant while completing her degree in the Administrative Assistant program. Prior to enrolling in that program, Sue spent 30 years as a professional horticulturist at exclusive private country clubs, estates, and botanic gardens in Utah, Wisconsin, California, New Hampshire, and Iowa. Sue obtained her AAS in Horticulture from Kirkwood in 1985 and her AAS in the Administrative Assistant program in 2015.

Dave Boelman graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2014 with an A.A.S in Energy Production and Distribution Technologies and has been faculty since 2017. Prior to coming to Kirkwood, Dave was an Electrical Field Test Technician for Shermco Industries in Hiawatha, IA. Dave was chosen as the “Outstanding Student of the Year” in the Kirkwood E.P.D.T program class of 2014.

Austin earned an A.A.S. in Robotics/Automation Technologies from Indian Hills Community College. Austin has been with Kirkwood since 2012. Prior to coming to Kirkwood, Austin worked 3 ? years in the electrical industry as a Technical Specialist for Van Meter Industrial. In his previous role, he provided technical assistance, solution support, on-site service, and technical training on a broad range of high-end industrial automation hardware and software.

Dane grew up in the Iowa City area (North Liberty and Tiffin) with weekend and summer visits to family farms in Williamsburg area. He graduated from Iowa City West high in 2001. After a couple years, in 2005, he decided to chase a passion for Welding by enrolling in that program at Kirkwood Community College. He completed all the degree requirements in 2007 and graduated. While in school he worked full time at Highway Equipment Company. He has spent the last 12 years working for Highway Equipment, with the exception of 9 months that he worked at Iowa Precision. The education, desire, and passion he has for the welding trade has helped him to continuously advance his career with welding technologies to where it is today.

Kim Fensterman graduated from Mt. Mercy College with a degree in Business Administration.  Kim is currently the Program Developer for Water/Wastewater, Fire Training and ETONLINE programs for Continuing Education and Training Services.  Kim serves as the Program Advisor for the online Water Environmental Technology program. She has been involved in coordinating and development of Water and Wastewater training  since 1988.  Kim is also a member of several State Organizations in the Water and Wastewater field and is an advocate for the safety of our drinking water.

Dan earned a diploma in Welding at Hawkeye Community College. In 1985, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was honor graduate at the Marine Corp Welding School in Camp Lejune, NC. Dan owned and operated his own welding and fabrication business from 1990 until 2006. Prior to beginning at Kirkwood, Dan taught welding courses at Northeast Community College.

Joe enjoys teaching and research in the areas of Building Construction Systems, Sustainable Construction Science and Biomimicry. He is a faculty sponsor of the NAHB student club as well as an advisor for the Iowa Sustainable Village. Joe earned his B.S. in Graphic Communications/Industrial Technology and his M.S. in Instructional Technology. He has also earned credentialing as a LEED Green Associate, Certified Green Professional and a Certified Passive House Consultant. Joe serves on many regional, state and national boards to better opportunities for students and industry partners.

Tim joined the faculty at Kirkwood in 2008. Prior to that, he owned his own architectural design and construction management firm for over 10 years. Tim earned a diploma in Architectural Technologies from Des Moines Area Community College, holds an A.A.S. in Construction Management from Kirkwood, and is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Management from Mount Mercy College.

Steve Hanisch is currently the lead instructor for the Carpentry Program at Kirkwood. Steve previously taught Construction Management and Architecture courses for concurrent enrollment as part of the new Johnson County Regional Academy. His teaching experience prior to this position includes three years as an adjunct instructor of Industrial Technologies: Construction Management and one year as an Industrial Technologies: Construction teacher at Prairie High School. Steve earned a B.M. from the University of Iowa and an A.A.S. in Construction Management from Kirkwood. Before teaching Steve worked for 18 years as a general contractor, modular construction specialist and craftsman.

Todd Hesseltine has an A.A.S. from Kirkwood Community College. Todd has been with Kirkwood since 2001. Prior to coming to Kirkwood, Todd was an Automotive Technician at Advanced Auto Service in Iowa City. Todd was picked as the Outstanding Student of the year in the Year in the Kirkwood Automotive Technology program class of 1990. He was raised around a family owned Automotive Repair Shop in Iowa City.

Steve received his A.E. in Electronics Engineering Technology from Oregon Institute of Technology and his B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State College. Prior to coming to Kirkwood in 2016, Steve served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 31 years, specializing in training, support, and project engineering and management for electronic systems. This included over six years as an electronics instructor and another four years in training management and administration. Steve also has a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Villanova University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Bob Wade is teaching Advanced Manufacturing in the Linn County Regional Center, as well as on the main campus in Jones Hall. Bob has earned two degrees from Kirkwood Community College, one in Computer Numerical Controlled Manufacturing Technologies and the other in Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication. Bob brings his industrial experience from working the last eight years at Schneider Electric in Cedar Rapids as a prototype development model maker and two years of internship at Integrated DNA Technologies in Coralville Iowa, working in their prototype development lab. Prior to being hired full time, Bob taught at Kirkwood as an adjunct faculty member for three years in the Career Academy.

John Williams has a diploma from Algonquin College. Prior to coming to Kirkwood, John worked in his family's plumbing business. He started teaching in the Plumbing Apprenticeship program at Algonquin College in 1987 and became the program coordinator in 1990. John relocated into the midwest in 2001 and worked for the City of Iowa City as the backflow coordinator and for the City of Moline as the Field Service Manager for the Water Plant.
