Our program is exclusively devoted to adults wanting to complete their degree. We boast an average course completion rate of 95% since 2005. To qualify for the program you must:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a minimum of three years full-time work experience.
- Demonstrate college-level competencies in reading and writing.
- Complete an application to Kirkwood.
After admission to the program, we will invite you to visit with an advisor to discuss your degree plan and how you can efficiently and economically complete your degree. We will assess any previous course work that was done at Kirkwood or any other institution to count toward your degree. The first class we require of all our new AAL students is Tools for Life Seminar, where you have the opportunity to experience the accelerated format and get back into the swing of college. Returning to college is a big decision and the Tools course eases that transition for you!
Our Forgiveness of Failing Grades policy also allows students to eliminate failing grades from previously earned credits at Kirkwood to help alleviate the burden of any previous failed coursework. Click here for more information about the Forgiveness of Failing Grades policy.
Many of our students are able to utilize tuition reimbursement from their companies or apply for financial aid. Prior to your first meeting with an advisor, check with your employer to see if there is an opportunity for tuition reimbursement.
Please note, a new student should be enrolled at least 10 business days before the start of a class.
