Adults 18 years of age or older, who have not completed their high school education may be eligible to earn a diploma through Kirkwood's Adult High School Completion program. Over 50 self-directed courses and selected structured classes are offered at the Iowa County Center.
Computers are available to provide students academic reinforcement, enriched learning opportunities and vocational experience. Students are also encouraged to take interest and career assessment inventories, tour program facilities on the main campus and explore other career and academic resources as part of their alternative high school experience.
Kirkwood Adult High School Diploma A State of Iowa fully accredited adult high school diploma that considers previous high school credits, as well as military and work experience that apply toward the credits needed to earn a Kirkwood High School Diploma.
General Education Development (GED) Upon successful completion of the GED Tests, a student is awarded an equivalency diploma from the State of Iowa. Pre-testing, review, and final state testing are all available at the Williamsburg Center.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) The Adult Basic Education program provides instruction to enable adults to increase self-sufficiency, improve employability, prepare for continued learning and better meet their responsibilities. Instruction is designed for adults whose competence in reading, writing, and computation is below the 9th grade level.
High School Correspondence Program Earn high school credit at home. Completing a course by correspondence is a flexible, convenient way to earn high school credit, especially if you need to make up credit in order to graduate, are no longer in school but could graduate by ransferring credit to your former high school or have a busy schedule that doesn t permit attending scheduled classes.
Post Secondary Enrollment Act High school students that meet the requirements and guidelines of their high school may register for Kirkwood Community college classes and earn high school and college credit at the same time for the same class. Registration forms are available at the Iowa County Center and from high school guidance counselors. |
