Why did you choose to pursue your education at Kirkwood?
I’ve known many friends and family members who have
attended Kirkwood and have truly enjoyed their experiences there. Kirkwood has given them new job opportunities and set them on course to pursue education at 4 year colleges, such as Mount Mercy University and the University of Iowa. As a Cedar Rapids native, it’s been a wonderful thing to have such a great college minutes away from my home.
What are your educational or career plans for after graduation
I plan to seek employment as a Medical Transcriptionist in the Eastern Iowa area, hopefully working at one of our many hospitals and clinics. I’ve loved attending Kirkwood so much that I definitely do not rule out returning again in the future to earn a second degree!
From a personal and financial standpoint, describe the impact your scholarship has on your education.
Being awarded a scholarship is an honor. College is an important, but expensive endeavor and receiving a scholarship that helps to pay for your education is a huge gift that allows you to focus more on your goals and less on financial strains. I couldn’t be more grateful to be a recipient—attending Kirkwood has been incredibly rewarding and I’ve had amazing professors and faculty cheering me on and supporting me every step of the way.
