This course is designed for experienced riders (two years or 2,000 miles minimum) looking to hone their advanced skills on their own bikes or to attain their Certificate of Completion for the Iowa DOT while sharpening their advanced skills. Course length is approximately eight hours, including one hour of classroom instruction and seven hours of on-motorcycle instruction. Learners wishing to attain the Certificate of Completion for the Iowa DOT must successfully pass both the riding and written examinations to complete this course and attain the certificate.
Students must be 18 years of age or older and have their own motorcycle, a valid motorcycle endorsement or instructional permit on their license and proof of insurance. Participants are required to bring protective gear: a helmet, eye protection, a jacket or a long-sleeve shirt, jeans, full finger gloves and shoes/boots that cover the ankle. Class size is limited to 12 students. ERC classes are offered in Cedar Rapids.
