The goals of the CASTLE program are to:

  • Facilitate faculty understanding of current theories of teaching, learning, and motivation relevant to course or program competencies.

  • Improve faculty knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment strategies likely to be effective in the classroom derived from these theories through development of a classroom case study research project.

  • Provide faculty with the skills and tools to continually diagnose and assess learning and teaching in the classroom to modify instruction and improve student learning and performance.

  • Create a community of faculty learners focused on the collaborative study and research of learning in the context of their classrooms.

  • Contribute to college-wide assessment efforts.
