Dear Student,
Congratulations! You have been accepted to Kirkwood as a student in one of our Career Option programs, which are part of the Arts and Sciences area of the College.
If you plan to earn a college degree, be aware that you will be expected to take a variety of courses, called core courses, within several academic areas: math, science, writing, communication, social sciences, arts and humanities. Courses in these areas provide a variety of perspectives and introduce a number of critical thinking strategies. This foundation of courses provides a Liberal Arts education, and most courses are readily transferable to four-year colleges and universities. In addition you will take Program courses which will give you specific skills in your chosen field.
Registration information is available at http://www.kirkwood.edu/careeropadvising the Kirkwood Career Option home page. Read and follow the instructions to select the advising option that best fits your needs. You must attend an advising session before you register and seating is limited. Sign up early to save your space. Please check the site often for advising dates and times. New student advising typically begins in December for spring, May for summer and July for fall starts, so the information should be on the site about a month prior to these sessions.
The staff and faculty of this department are dedicated to meeting your learning needs and providing you with the best possible education.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
