From work to play, you’ll find plenty to do in the greater Cedar Rapids area, population about 150,000. Art, culture, history and science museums feed your soul and mind. Theatre and music thrive locally, and visiting acts frequent the downtown venues. Movies and shopping are a short drive from campus. Jobs can be found on and off campus.

Great golfing, volleyball and outdoor trails keep you on the move year-round. Cheer on the Kernels Class A Minor League baseball or Rough Riders USHL ice hockey some afternoon or evening.

Iowa City/Coralville

With a population of around 62,220, Iowa City is home to the University of Iowa, and, of course, the wildly popular Iowa Hawkeyes. When you aren't cheering on your favorite team or studying for that big test, hit the downtown area for live music, clubs and other nightlife attractions.

Enjoy shopping at the Coralridge Mall in Coralville, the Sycamore Mall on the east side of town or stroll through the Pedestrian Mall and the Old Capital Town Center in downtown Iowa City.

The city’s 41 public parks, the Coralville Reservoir or the nine public golf courses will keep you busy if being in the outdoors is your pleasure. There are restaurants to appeal to every taste, and many of the conveniences you’d expect to find in larger cities, with the friendliness you expect from a small town.
