What is the age range for KICK?

KICK is for youth ages 9-15. Please note that there are a few camps outside of these age parameters and some camps have specific age limits within that range. See individual camp descriptions for details.

My child is only eight, but is very mature. Can I sign her up for one of your camps?

Unfortunately we will not allow younger students to enroll in our camps, unless specified in the camp description.

My child is 16 and really wants to sign up for one of your camps, can I enroll him?

Yes, we will take older students as long as they are school aged.

Are there any special requirements to sign up for these camps?

Other than the minimum age requirements specified for each camp, all students are welcome to enroll.

My child has a morning camp that ends at 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon camp that starts that same day at 1 p.m., will there be supervision over the lunch break?

We will provide supervision and make sure your child gets from the morning camp to the afternoon camp. Please provide a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.

The camp my child wants is full, can you squeeze in just one more?

Unfortunately if the camp is full, we cannot take any more students. We do not have a waiting list. Feel free to check in to see if there are any openings.

Is there a chance that the camp might be cancelled?

All camps have a minimum number of students required. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified and will receive a full refund. If the instructor decides for whatever reason he/she cannot teach, we will try our best to find a replacement. If we cannot, we will cancel the camp and you will receive a full refund.

I知 not sure if we値l be able to sign up for a certain camp until the last minute. Can we sign up at the door?

If the camp has openings, we will accept walk-ins. A parent or guardian must accompany the child who is walking in to the camp to sign appropriate forms and pay the fee. Please note that if the minimum enrollment has not been met the class will be canceled.

Can I sit in on the camp with my child?

Adults will not be allowed to stay at the camp with students. If there are special circumstances, please contact us and we will evaluate the situation on a case-by-case basis.

What if we need to drop out of a camp?

If a student needs to drop out of a camp, he/she will have up until one day prior to the camp for a full refund. Refunds after the camp starts will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

I have a few questions about the camp. Do we need to bring anything? Where is it? I知 sure I値l come up with more questions.

We will be sending an information packet two weeks prior to the start date of each camp. This should contain any information you need. If your questions are not answered, feel free to contact us.

What about permission forms and emergency contact information? Will I need to fill anything out?

Two weeks prior to the start of the camp, you値l receive an information packet in the mail that will contain required forms. Please note that registration is not considered complete until these forms are returned to us.

My son would really like to attend one of your camps, but we don稚 have the money. Is funding available?

We have scholarships available for income-eligible families. To apply for tuition assistance, fill out the online application or call 319-398-5529 for an application.

Could I get some information on your camp faculty and staff?

All of the camp facilitators we have hired have teaching experience, whether as a local school teacher, Kirkwood faculty or Kirkwood Continuing Education. Many have led day camps through other organizations. Our camp staff has varying levels of experience from licensed teachers to babysitting. They are all CPR and First Aid certified.

How will you handle medical emergencies?

Kirkwood has a nurse on staff, as well as emergency responders. Our staff has been trained in CPR and First Aid.

My son痴 camp is over at 12:30 p.m. and I have to work until 2 p.m. Can he just stay at Kirkwood until I can pick him up?

For liability reasons, students will need to be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the camp has ended. Students can be dropped off 15 minutes prior to the start of camp.
