Portal - a single, password, protected, personalized website tailored for employees to get not only the information and resources they need for their daily responsibilities, but to also get the shared information they desire, to be more informed regarding what's happening across the college.
Real Estate - space on the portal that can be customized
SharePoint - the “engine” behind the portal which will facilitate collaboration, provide content management features, implement business processes, and supply access to information that is essential to college goals and processes.
Sandbox - a test area which allows selected users to “play” with the portal technology.
Constituent - defined by Human Resources, may belong to many audiences.
Audience - a specific group of users, like faculty, staff, administration, etc.
Team Site - a section on the portal where specific “audience” information is displayed, like department teams, committees, clubs & organization which are created through Human Resources.
Single Sign-On - a feature within the portal that allows users to log-in once and then have access to a number of programs.
Remote Access - ability to use the portal via the Internet regardless of where they are physically located.
Web Part - allows users to launch a program from a web browser while signed-on to the portal
Web Link - allows users to access a website from a web browser within the portal.
