Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are Intramural Sports?
The intramural sports program at Kirkwood is designed to provide organized competitive and recreational activities for participants of all skills. Structured leagues and tournaments are offered in a variety of team and individual events which includes flag football and dodgeball to Texas Hold'em and fantasy football.
Who Can Play Intramurals?
Only current Kirkwood students, faculty, and staff are eligible to participate in Kirkwood intramural activities. If you have any questions about eligibility of a player, contact the Recreation Services office.
How Do I Get Involved?
We encourage both individuals and teams to participate in intramural activities. You can register yourself or your team for an activity online at www.kirkwood.edu/intramurals or by filling out a registration form at the Michael J. Gould Recreation Center.
Free Agents
If you want to play but you do not know enough people to form a team, we can still get you involved. You will need to sign up as a free agent on the intramural sports webpage or by filling out a form at the Rec Center for the particular activity you want to be involved in. Your name and contact information will then be available to other team captains who may be looking for more players for their team. They will then be able to contact you to recruit you to their team.
Intramural Champion T-Shirts
If you or your team wins the championship for an intramural event, you are eligible to receive a Kirkwood Intramural Champion T-Shirt. In order to qualify, you must have played in a minimum of two games for that event. The number of T-Shirts given to a team is five more than the number allowed on the field/court at one time (i.e. for 7 vs 7 flag football, a team could receive 12 T-Shirts).
