The service-learning component in the Encounters in Humanities class involves volunteer work at an arts agency. Students complete a portfolio of their experience, including reflections on their work and its connection to the subject we've discussed in class.
Students complete 12 hours of work at their agency and write several reflections on their work, which totals about seven-10 pages of writing. Students select agencies from this list of arts agencies. Occasionally students find agencies closer to their homes that are not listed on the site.
This course is not offered every semester. It's typically offered every-other year in the fall.
