Kirkwood Community College encourages community groups and organizations to use our facilities for meetings and other activities. The following are policies and guidelines concerning the use of Kirkwood’s facilities:
Overriding Guidelines of Facility Use
- College sponsored activities have first priority with all other reservations subject to administrative approval.
- Organizations cannot be providing education or training services deemed to be in direct competition with Kirkwood offerings.
- Use of facilities is offered to non-profit organizations free of charge.
- Non-Profit organizations cannot charge admission/tuition to meetings, conferences, classes, etc.
- Organizations that are for-profit may request to use Kirkwood facilities for a fee.
- Kirkwood does not host private functions such as anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, graduations and family reunions.
- Typically, organizations may not use the facilities on a recurring calendar schedule of use. For example, Lion’s Club that meets the first Wednesday night of each month.
- Kirkwood does not provide staff to support the implementation of an organization’s program in the facility
- If the college closes due to inclement weather, or any other emergency, those events scheduled in the facilities cannot be held as scheduled.
Exceptions to the above guideline may occur when a formal partnership agreement exists.
Room Rental Rates for Profit Organizations
Off campus rooms are available at $50 for half day and $100 for full day rental. If an event occurs outside normal operating hours, an additional fee may be charged. Computer labs are available at $400 half day and full day rental.
