AEGON USA, Inc./Transamerica Foundation Kirkwood Scholarships for Students with Disabilities
Amount: $500 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must enroll at least half-time (six credit hours).
Must have applied to a Kirkwood program prior to submitting a scholarship application.
All scholarship application forms and support information must be submitted at one time to: Carla Green, Grant Wood AEA, 4401 Sixth Street SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404-4499 or by phone (319) 399-6804.
Deadline: May 6, 2009. Partial applications will not be accepted.
Must attach three letters of recommendation. Letters should discuss academic and/or work capabilities and personal qualities of the applicant. At least one letter must be from someone in the field of education and one from an employer.
Must attach a high school transcript.
Must write a thank you to the donor and submit it to Carla Green.
These scholarships are not open to studnets who: are from non-GWAEA school districts, do not have an IEP, or have received this scholarship in the past.

AEGON USA, Inc./Life Investors Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be single parents (must indicate you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Recipients may reapply for one additional year of support.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Alumni Scholarship
Amount: $250 - $500 per year

Award to one returning student.
Must be a resident of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Linn or Washington counties in Iowa.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

American Business Women’s Association Scholarship
Amount: Up to $500 per year

Award to one student.
Preference given to a returning adult student (25 years of age or older).
Must be a full-time, second-year student.
Must be a resident of Linn County, Iowa.
Must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

B.A. and Margaret Ann Jensen Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one full-time student.
Must be a resident of Iowa.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Preference given to students enrolled in Construction Management or a Nursing program.
Preference given to a returning adult student who is attending Kirkwood to enhance or develop career goals.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Ballantyne Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one full-time student.
Must be enrolled at time of application or have completed one semester at Kirkwood within the past 18 months.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

Bank of the West Scholarship
Amount: $1,500 per year

BANKIOWA Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a resident of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Linn or Washington counties in Iowa.
Must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Barbara Ann Francis Young Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Award may be used for tuition, books, child care, transportation or other education-related expenses.
Preference given to women who are at risk and who have had physical, emotional and financial challenges to overcome in achieving their goals (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Preference also given to women who were out of the workplace and need significant retraining in order to improve their job skills (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must demonstrate financial need.

Bernard J. and Catherine H. Campion Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Recipient must be a recent high school graduate with preference given to Regina High School or other Catholic high school graduates (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Bert and Suzanne Katz Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or more students.
Preference will be given to an employee of the city of Marion or to a family member of a Marion city employee (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Consideration will also be given to students not affiliated with the city of Marion who are enrolled full- or part-time in any credit program at Kirkwood, but award will then be based on demonstrated financial need.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must include in summary your career or educational interests and how financial assistance will make a difference in your educational plans.

Betty Winokur Scholarship
Amount: Up to $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a resident of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Jones, Johnson, Linn or Washington counties in Iowa.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Billy Sanders Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be enrolled full-time with preference given to the spouse or child of a current employee of Cedar River Paper Company. (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must include in summary how this scholarship will help you achieve your educational goals.
Preference given to students who have overcome barriers, divorce, loss of job, etc. to achieve their educational goals.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Bob and Bonnie Sierk Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one student.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be a resident of Johnson County and attending classes at either the main or the Iowa City campuses.
Must be a returning adult student who is attending Kirkwood to enhance or develop career goals.
Must include in summary how this scholarship will help you achieve your educational goals in developing a career.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Bob and Joye Davidson Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be a resident of Iowa.
No minimum grade point average required, but it will be considered.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Award to one student.
Must be a full-time student.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

Carl and Doris McClain Family Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or more students.
Must be enrolled full- or part-time in any credit program.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Preference will be given to a student who is a single parent or from a single-parent home.

Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a single parent, displaced homemaker or an international student (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must be a resident of Cedar Rapids or an international student enrolled at Kirkwood.
Must demonstrate financial need or provide a letter of recommendation from the International Studies office.

Cedar Rapids Kiwanis Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Must provide service work to the community.
Must have a desire to continue your education.

Chad Skogman Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students; half of the awards are designated for minority students.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Cheryle Watts Mitvalsky Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Preference given to students who represent leadership skills within their community.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Children of Local 125 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters of Cedar Rapids Scholarship
Amount: $250 - $500 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must have a letter or other official notification that you are the son or daughter of a union member.
Application deadline is June 2008.

Conrad Gregg Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a first-year, full-time student for initial award.
Preference given to a resident of Muscatine County in Iowa.
If the recipient continues as a full-time student, he/she must reapply to receive an additional award for the second year.
Must demonstrate financial need.

CRST International Paul Shawver Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be enrolled in a two-year degree program with the intention of completing a four-year degree.
Must demonstrate financial need.

David & Ann Bunting Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a resident of Iowa.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be a graduate of Kirkwood’s Adult High School or GED program or Kirkwood’s Alternative High Schools and reference this in summary.
Must include your career goal(s) in summary.
Must demonstrate financial need.

David H. Jensen Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or two students.
Must be an Iowa resident from Kirkwood’s seven-county service area (Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn or Washington).
Preference given to a returning adult student who is attending Kirkwood to enhance or develop career goals.
Must have successfully completed one semester at Kirkwood.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be enrolled in at least nine semester hours in any Applied Science and Technology program (under Agricultural Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Health Science or Industrial Technologies).
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Award may be used for tuition, fees, books or other education-related expenses.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Wagdy Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a Muslim student.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more.

Don and Phyllis Canfield Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be enrolled full-time in any credit program.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

F & M Bank Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one student in any major at Kirkwood.
Must reside in Linn County.
Must have completed at least one semester at Kirkwood.
Must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Falconio Famiy Endowed Scholarship
Amount: $Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Preference given to students of Italian origin. Reference as to how you meet this criteria must be included in summary.

Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship
Amount: Up to $800 per semester

Award to multiple students.
Must maintain at least eight semester hours, including at least one course in a subject other than music or theatre (need not be a Music or Theatre major to apply).
Must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must actively contribute to the Music and/or Theatre programs, including enrollment in ensembles and/or productions.

An initial audition is required. Applications are screened each term to determine continuing eligibility. Performing Arts scholarships are awarded to non-majors as well as majors. Contact the performing arts coordinator at 319-398-4956 for more information.

Fred & Bev Timko Family Endowed Scholarship
Amount: $Varies per year

Award to mulitple students.
No have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must have participated in Project START and completed his or her Project START eligibility.

Fred L. Schuchmann Scholarship
Amount: $750 per year

Award to one student.
No minimum grade point average required, but it will be considered.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Must be a recent Starmont High School graduate.
Must include in summary your need for the scholarship and how it will assist you in attaining your educational goal.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Friends & Neighbors of Immigrants Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be enrolled in at least nine credit hours in any credit program.
Preference given to Latino students from Washington County but other immigrants from the college’s seven county service area will be considered.
Reference as to how you meet this criteria and have financial need must be included in summary.

Gary Rozek Endowed Golf Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be a full-time student.
Must be a participant of Kirkwood’s golf program.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

Great America Leasing Corporation Project FINISH Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to 10 students.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must have participated in Project START and completed his or her Project START eligibility.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Hal Dane/Kiwanis Endowed Scholarship

Award to one student.

Henry and Mildred Meyer Scholarship
Amount: $2,500 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a Clear Creek Amana High School graduate.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must include in summary how this scholarship will help you achieve your educational goals.

Hites Family Foundation Higher Education Endowment Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 3.5 grade pint average.
Must have completed 50 credit hours at Kirkwood Community College.
Must maintain a minimum 2.75 grade point average during the first semester of junior year and a minimum 3.0 the following semesters to continue receiving funds from the scholarship.

Howard Ellson Memorial Child Care Endowed Scholarship

Amount: Varies per year
Award to one or more students.
Must use award for child care expenses.
Must specifically state that your child or children are enrolled or accepted for enrollment at the Kirkwood Kids Child Care Center.
Must include in summary why you should receive the award.
Applications will be available in the child care center during August of the upcoming academic year.

Submit application and essay to director, child care center by Sept. 10, 2008. Call 319-398-1256 for additional information.

Hy-Vee Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
In the required summary page, applicants should indicate if they are a current or former employee of Hy-Vee or Hy-Vee Drugstore, as preference will be given to those applicants.
Must demonstrate financial need.

International Cultural Center Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a signed lease agreement with the International Cultural Center.

Ira & Doris Larson Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or more students.
Majors or non-majors in music, theatre or art.
Must be enrolled in at least eight semester hours.
Talent, reliability, grade point average and level will be considered.

J. Paul and Ruth Frazier Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple African-American or Native American students.
Must be enrolled in any Applied Science and Technology program (under Agricultural Sciences and Technical programs, Business and Information Technology, Health Science or Industrial Technologies).
Students enrolled in Arts and Sciences/Career Option programs are not eligible for this award.
Must demonstrate financial need.

King’s Material/Hawkeye Redi-Mix Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be enrolled in the Architectural Technology, Business Administration, Carpentry, Construction Management, Masonry, Pre-Engineering, Nursing (Pre-BSN) or Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be a resident of Iowa and intend to work in Iowa after graduation.

Kirkwood Kids Child Care Center Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
Must have a child or children enrolled at Kirkwood Kids.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must include in summary your career plans and child care needs.
Award will be applied toward child care expenses at Kirkwood Kids.

Kirkwood Village Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students
Must be enrolled full-time in any credit program.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Leaders for Tomorrow Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple full-time students.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate strong leadership qualities. At least one community and two high school leadership experiences are required during junior and/or senior years.
Must submit transcript, essay and two references.

This scholarship closes April 11, 2008, and a specific application is required. Contact the dean, Admissions Services/Student Life at 319-398-5517.

Lee Liu Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or more students.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

M.J. Bartelme Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $250 per year
Award to one student.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Preference given to a returning adult student.
Must have served in the military or National Guard.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Michael & Janice Gould Area of Greatest Need Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Michelle Starcevich Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be a participant in one of Kirkwood's athletic programs.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Mildred Joslin Scholarship
Amount: Up to $1,200 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a 2008 graduate of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. Each year, on a rotating basis, applicants from the designated Cedar Rapids high schools will be considered for this award.
Must be a full-time student.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Monday League Club Scholarship
Amount: $600 per year

Award to two female students with defined career goals.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must include in summary your career interest and how a scholarship will make a difference in your educational plans.
Recipient will be expected to attend and speak at a Monday League Club meeting.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Mount Pleasant Corrections Scholarship
Amount: $333 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a resident at the Mount Pleasant Corrections Facility for one calendar year from the May 11 application due date.
Must plan to live and work in Iowa after release from the Mount Pleasant Corrections Facility.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, 2,400 GED score or a 10th grade equivalent TABE score from Oakdale.
Must have a defined career path.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Applications are available at the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility.

Nadine V. Wax Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one first-year student.
Must be a full-time student.
Must be a resident of Iowa with preference given to students from either Benton or Linn counties.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Nielsen Family Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a participant in one of Kirkwood’s athletic programs.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Award to one or more students.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a second-year student.
Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Must maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

Presidential Scholarship
Amount: $3,000 per year

Available to Iowa high school seniors who plan to attend Kirkwood full-time in the fall following graduation.
Award to multiple full-time students.
Must have a minimum ACT score of 25.
Must have a minimum 3.5 high school grade point average.
Must maintain a 3.25 grade point average.
Must submit specific application, transcript, essay and two references.

Project FINISH Endowed Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must have participated in Project START and completed his or her Project START eligibility.
Must have financial need.

Returning Adult Student Scholarship
Amount: $300 per semester

Award to multiple students.
Student must be a returning adult student, 25 years of age or older.
Student must complete a Kirkwood scholarship application.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Robert & Cornelia S. Day Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one student.
Must be a resident of Iowa.
Must show academic achievement, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be enrolled full-time in a credit program.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and a willingness to work.
Must demonstrate financial need.
Preference will be given to students from Washington County, but applicants meeting the above criteria will also be considered.

Robert and Elizabeth Allsop endowed scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one or more students.
Must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Computer Information Systems, Computer Support Specialist, LAN Management, PC Technician, Information Systems Management.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Samuel J. Kirkwood Tribute Scholarship
Amount: $2,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a second year student.
Must have a 3.0 grade point average.
Student must explain his/her current leadership activities within the community, and explain in the summary.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Samuel S. Johnson Family Endowed Scholarship
Amount: Varies per year

Award to one full-time student.
Must be a resident of Iowa.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate a desire to continue your education and willingness to work.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Scheldrup, Blades, Schrock, Sand, Aranza, P.C. Scholarship
Amount: $2,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a resident of Cedar, Henry, Johnson, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Wapello or Washington counties.
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Must include a 500 word essay about why you want a legal assistant education.
Preference given to students who have immigrated into the U.S. within the past seven years or are the child of a parent who has lived in the U.S. less than seven years.

Stamats Communications, Inc. Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to one student.
Must be a son or daughter of a Stamats Communications, Inc employee.
Must be a full-time, traditional student.

Student Athletic Scholarships
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be a participant in one of Kirkwood’s athletic programs.

Student of Color Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be a U.S. citizen and a student of color.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Student Life Scholarship

Amount: $500 per year
Award to two second-year students.
Must demonstrate past involvement and plans for continued involvement in one or more programs sponsored by Student Life (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must maintain at least eight semester hours including at least one course in a subject other than music or theatre (need not be a Music or Theatre major to apply).
Must maintain a minimum 2.2 grade point average.
Must actively contribute to the Music and/or Performing Arts program, including enrollment in ensembles and/or productions.
An initial audition is required.

Theodore F. Feder Scholarship Endowment Fund for Educational Assistance to Deserving Students
Amount: Varies per year

Award to multiple students.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Tim J. Meyer Financial Services Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one student.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must be a graduate of Clear Creek Amana or English Valleys school districts.
Must include in summary your need for the scholarship and how it will assist you in attaining your educational goal.
Must demonstrate financial need.

United Fire & Casualty Scholarship
Amount: $250 - $750 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must participate in the Four Oaks Cornerstone program.
Must submit an application and summary page.
Must be enrolled full-time (12credit hours or more).
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average during first semester to qualify for second semester award.

Unity Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year.

Award to one student.
Must be pursuing a degree or certificate in a credit program at Kirkwood.
Preference given to a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender student, or one of his or her allies, who has done significant things to reduce the level of homophobia in his or her school or community.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must mention how you qualify for this scholarship in the summary of your application.

U.S. Bank Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a single parent or returning adult student enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Kirkwood (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Walter A. and Ida K. Kansky Memorial Fund Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 per year
Award to multiple students.
Must be a graduate of an Iowa high school in Linn County.

Waypoint Tribute to Women Scholarship
Amount: $500 per year

Award to one nontraditional female Kirkwood student.
Must be a single parent with special preference given to women with domestic violence or homelessness issues (must indicate how you meet the criteria).
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Recipient will be expected to attend and speak at the Tribute to Women recognition dinner in the fall.
Must demonstrate financial need.

Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year

Award to multiple students.
Must be a full-time student.
Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Must be a resident of Linn or Benton counties.
Must demonstrate financial need.
