Anne Duffy Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to honor Anne Duffy.  Anne is an outstanding graduate of Kirkwood.  She is the professor of Animal Health Technology at Kirkwood.  Her profound love for her profession impelled her to single-handedly spearhead the drive to establish the Animal Health Technology program at Kirkwood.  It is now recognized as one of the most outstanding programs in the country.  Governor Tom Vilsack appointed her to be the first veterinary technician to serve on the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine.  Her outstanding leadership and organizational skills were paramount during the great flood of 2008.  She gained national recognition for Kirkwood and herself by establishing an animal rescue shelter on the Kirkwood campus to care for pets displaced by the devastating flood.  There were close to 1,000 animals being cared for at one time and she directed the Herculean efforts of paid staff and hundreds of volunteers.  It was an effort never before seen or matched in the wake of a natural disaster in this country.  This scholarship is intended to honor a great human being and animal lover.
