Mary Jane received her BA in English and Speech from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and a master s degree in Rhetoric and Public Address from the University of Iowa. She has taught in junior and senior high schools as well as at the university level in Wisconsin, Texas, and Iowa. Mary Jane is currently teaching Fundamentals of Communication, Public Speaking, and Encounters in Humanities.

Rich Underwood received his Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in Rhetorical Communication from Purdue University. Rich was selected to be in Who's Who Among America s Teachers in 1998. He is currently teaching Fundamentals of Communication, Group Communication, and Public Speaking. Rich is also an advisor for Alpha Eta Rho; the Kirkwood chapter of Phi Theta Kappa-the international honor society of the two year college.

Doug Hall received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Beach State College. He attended the Art Institute of San Francisco and earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa where he held a teaching assistantship under Professor Mauricio Lasansky. Doug majored in Printmaking with a minor in Drawing. Doug has a home studio where he does large and outrageous paintings and drawings. Doug teaches Art Appreciation, Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Encounters in Humanities.

Born in New Jersey, David studied history and philosophy at Brown University, taught English in Japan for two years, then completed a doctorate in philosophy at Northwestern University in 2000. Before coming to Kirkwood in 2003, he taught at Drexel University, Williams College, and The University of Iowa. At Kirkwood he teaches Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, Basic Reasoning and Philosophy of Education.

Lydia is a Ph.D. candidate in philosophy from the City University of New York Graduate Center in NYC. Her area of specialty is in the philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology. Prior to returning to her native home of Iowa, Lydia was teaching philosophy and interdisciplinary courses in the humanities and sciences at colleges in and around the New York City area. Lydia teaches Encounters in Humanities, Working in America, and Culture and Technology.

Chris received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Middle Tennessee State University, a master s degree in Philosophy from the University of Memphis in 1990, and a doctorate from the University of Nebraska. Chris teaches Introduction to Philosophy, Basic Reasoning, Introduction to Ethics, Culture and Technology and Working in America. Chris is currently a faculty advisor for Phi Theta Kappa.

Scott Samuelson graduated as valedictorian with a B.A. in Philosophy from Grinnell College in 1995. He received his PhD Philosophy at Emory University. He has taught philosophy at Oglethorpe University, Kennesaw State University, and Emory University. He teaches Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, and Basic Reasoning.

Rick Anderson, theatre director, taught high school speech and theatre before coming to Kirkwood. His degrees include an A.A. from Iowa Central Community College, and a B.A. and M.A. in Theatre Arts and Communication from the University of Northern Iowa. He teaches speech, acting, and humanities courses at Kirkwood in addition to directing three theatre productions each year. Rick also serves as an American College Theatre Festival adjudicator for the Kennedy Center.

Doug received his bachelor's degree in Speech and Theatre from Hamline University and his master's degree from Mankato State University. From 1975 to 1984, Doug was designer and technical director for the Cedar Rapids Community Theatre. Since the fall of 1984, he has served in a similar capacity at Kirkwood. Doug also teaches Public Speaking, Stagecraft and Introduction to Theatre. Doug has done guest design work at the University of South Dakota, Springfield (Missouri) Little Theatre, the University of Southwest Missouri, and the Dance Theatre of the Hemispheres and most recently the Riverside Theatre in Iowa City.

Timothy Feldkamp received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Fort Hays State University and his Masters of Music Education degree from Wichita State University. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone and Woodwind Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Feldkamp is currently the coordinator of instrumental music activities at Kirkwood. Under his direction, the music program has grown to two jazz ensembles, four jazz combos, chamber ensembles, and a concert band. The jazz ensembles have received superior ratings at prestigious jazz festivals throughout the United States and perform regularly in the state of Iowa.

Ray is the director of Choral Activities at Kirkwood. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from the University of Dubuque. He received a master s degree in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is working toward his doctoral degree in choral conducting at the University of Iowa. He previously served as Associate Choral Director at Iowa State University. Ray has served as musical director for more than 20 productions with high schools and community theatres throughout Iowa, and toured as musical director with a professional company. His jazz choirs have recorded two C.D. s and have won numerous awards. In 1999, his group Jazz Transit was invited to perform for the International Jazz Educators Association, and in January of 2000, his other jazz group R.S.V.P. performed for the International Association of Jazz Educators Millenium Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Susan Skoglund earned her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Iowa. She was also conferred the "Diplome superieur d'etudes francaises de 3e degre" from the Universite de Rouen, France. She has taught at the junior high, senior high and university levels both in Iowa and in France. Susan is currently teaching Elementary French I and II and Intermediate French I and II.

Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Portuguese from The University of Kansas. He received his Master of Arts from Indiana University. Richard has also done graduate course work in Spanish linguistics and teaching methodology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid,Spain. Richard teaches various Spanish courses at the Iowa City campus.
