Kirkwood Community College’s High School Distance Learning Program has partnered with APEX Learning to offer online courses.

The following courses are currently available:

Students taking an online course will have five months (4 months effective June 1, 2009) from the date of enrollment to complete their course. The student and test proctor will receive an introductory e-mail containing startup information after the registration form has been received.

The cost of a Kirkwood HSDL course is $125 per semester ($150 per semester effective June 1, 2009.)  Textbooks are only required for select English and Science courses and require a $60 book deposit.  (Chemistry S-1 Earth Science,Introduction to English Literature and Composition, British and World Literature,Critical Reading and Effective Writing, and American Literature.)  Each course is instructor-facilitated by a licensed Iowa teacher.  Students taking these courses will be assigned a teacher certified in that subject area.  This teacher is available on a regular basis to assist the student as they work through the course material.
