QUESTION: When I try to use DOC mnenomic, I get a Word Processor Search message. Can I use Colleague with Office 2007?
ANSWER: Yes, you can use Office 2007 with Colleague. You will need to make the following change just once to your computer:
- In Colleague Quick Access box, type the mnemonic doc and strike Enter.
- In the Document LookUp dialog box, type esd
" and strike Enter.Select one of the documents. Strike Save.
- On the Hardcopy Document Options (second from bottom), click on the drill down box.
- On the Create/Edit Document option (last one on screen), click on the drill down box.
- When the Word Processor Search window appears, browse to the C: drive, Program Files folder, Microsoft Office folder, Office 12 folder, and click on the WINWORD.EXE file. Click on Open.
- Click Yes to the prompt below (if you receive this prompt):
- You will then receive this prompt. Click on S to Save to load file onto host.
QUESTION: Compatibility Pack: How can I verify that the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack is installed on my Kirkwood computer?
ANSWER: Starting on March 30, 2007, the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack was installed automatically on all Kirkwood computers on the network. To verify if the Compatibility Pack is downloaded on your computer, you can follow these steps:
1. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel, click on Add or Remove Programs.
3. In the list of curently installed programs, you should see "Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system."

QUESTION: Where is the File option to Open or Save or Print a document?
ANSWER: There is no longer a File option in Office 2007. The File option has been replaced with the Microsoft Office Button. It is in the upper right hand corner and has the Microsoft symbol. It looks like this:

When you click on this button, this drop down list appears. Notice the option to create a New document, Open, Save and Print a document.

ANSWER: If you try to just double click and open the attachment, the document does not open properly. You will need to save your attachment first. Then go to the saved file and open. Then Office 2003 will open the 2007 document. Or you can drag the Office 2007 document to your desktop.
1. Do a right click on the GroupWise attachment and choose Save As. Save the document to your file location. Note that the extension on the 2007 document includes an x. For example a Word 2007 file has the extension of docx. Note: Do not change the original name of the document. If you change the name, you will not be able to open the document.
2. Click to open the saved Office 2007 document. Office 2003 will open the 2007 document.

Answer: The following link wil take you to the Microsoft download page, where you will download the converter. Once downloaded restart your computer. Then open Microsoft Word, then open the document.
