Clickers Survey Results

"Clickers" are remote classroom response systems that allow students to respond anonymously to questions projected from a computer (can be projected on a classroom screen, or to individual laptops). Clickers are used on many college campuses, and can be an effective tool for promoting discussions or for quizzing purposes.

Based on our own research, and that done by Ohio State University, we have decided that if many faculty wish to implement clicker technology in the classroom, it would be best to have one preferred system campus-wide. To that end, we narrowed the possible vendors down to two popular companies whose clickers have most of the desired featured:

The decision was made to use the Interwrite PRS System at Kirkwood. Instructors who are interested in using clickers in the classroom should begin by registering for a training session through KCELT. The next session will be during Dog Days, Tuesday, August 12.
