College Reading is for students who score in the 01-70 percentile range on the COMPASS Reading Placement test; for students who wish to increase their reading score for admission to a program; or for any student who wishes to improve college level reading skills. College Reading credits count towards credits needed for financial aid if the student is eligible for financial aid.

College Reading Skills Tutor Software

Skills Tutor contains instruction in Vocabulary Building (i.e. Greek word elements, Latin roots, prefixes, suffixes), Word Knowledge (i.e. homonyms, synonyms, antonyms, idioms), and Reading Comprehension (i.e. main idea, cause/effect, predicting, similes, metaphors). At the beginning of each unit, the student completes a diagnostic pre-test, and based on those results, the program automatically selects the necessary lessons to be delivered.
