So you’ve decided that you may want to take a high school distance learning course, but you’re still not sure if it’s the right option. Take a look at the information below and hopefully you’ll get more help in making your decision.

Time Management/Organization

Are you someone who is good at setting up and sticking to a schedule? If so, distance learning courses are right up your alley. Because these classes are done independently, you will need to set up a schedule in which you can successfully complete the course.

If time management and organization are challenging for you, don’t give up on one of these courses! The best way to get better at something is by practice, and by taking a distance learning course, you will have the opportunity to improve these skills.

Independent Learning

Do you have difficulty following along in class when everyone else is talking? Have you ever wished you could just go to a quiet space and work on your own? If yes, then distance learning courses may work for you! Learning in a distance learning course occurs on your schedule, and at your pace. You can choose when and where to work on your assignments, and have the opportunity to find that quiet space where you can succeed.

Reading over Discussing

Another thing to consider is your personal learning style. If you get most of your own learning out of discussing materials with other individuals, a distance learning course may present you with new challenges, as it will be difficult to discuss the course with anyone. On the other hand, if you find discussions distracting and get the most out of reading and working on assignments, a distance learning course may work for you, as this is the primary method of content delivery.  Reading comprehension skills are critical to success in most distance learning courses.
