CASTLE Classroom Research Institute: Call for Participants
KCELT and the CASTLE program (Continuous Assessment in a Teaching/Learning Environment) invite any second year or above, full-time faculty and any adjunct faculty to participate in an intensive, three-day Classroom Research Institute to be held May 19, 20, 21, 9 am-3 pm on campus. Institute participants will design a classroom research project for implementation in the fall 2009 and will earn 18 contact hours of professional renewal credit for attending the Institute. Upon successful completion of the research project, full-time faculty will be eligible for an additional 46 contact hours of professional renewal and adjuncts will be eligible for a $384 stipend. Classroom research offers an opportunity for faculty to conduct research projects relevant to their own classrooms and their own disciplines.
The Institute will be lead by CASTLE consultant Dr. Pat Hardre. Pat is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and an Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research at the University of Oklahoma. The participant cohort will do preliminary work in the online Angel CREOLE course (Creating Optimum Learning Environments) in April and May to gain some background knowledge of current theories of learning and motivation necessary for the design of their research project.
Morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and all materials will be provided during the three-day Institute. For questions and information on registering, please contact Chuck Hinz, Hope Burwell, or Rich Edwards. Institute registration deadline is Friday, March 27. CASTLE web site: CASTLE
