Home Today's older adults are pioneers in a changing, challenging world. Many are looking forward to longer, more active lives and exciting new ways to contribute to society. The Heritage Area Agency on Aging believes that older adults should have opportunities for lifelong learning in addition to a secure life, free from basic want. Heritage is one of 667 Area Agencies on Aging nationwide and one of only 13 in Iowa. Authorized by the Older Americans Act of 1965 (revised), the Heritage Agency has been a department of Kirkwood Community College since 1973. Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, our facilities include an administrative office and the Resource Center, a regional training and information facility. Our staff is dedicated to educating professionals, employers, volunteers and community residents to meet the challenges that face older adults and their families in our ever-changing and aging world. The agency plans, coordinates and funds a variety of human services programs that serve the 60,000+ older adults who reside in Benton, Cedar , Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington Counties. Heritage serves people age 60 and above as well as their families, communities, and governments. The Heritage Agency is also planning for the "Age Wave" of Baby Boomers that will reach age 60 in a few short years. Welcome to aging! Welcome to the Heritage Area Agency on Aging Web Page!
