Search Tips

Here are a few suggestions for searching the Kirkwood Web Site.

Wildcards:
• You may substitute an asterisk (*) for one or more characters.
   Example: law* - will find law, laws, lawful, and lawyer.
 
Single Word Searches:
• Simply enter the word you are searching for without using quotation marks. (Also see "Case Sensitivity" below)
   Example: accounting
 
Multiple Word Searches:
• To find all of 2 or more keywords, use 'and' between each word.
   Example: math and algebra
• To find any of 2 or more keywords, use a comma between each word.
   Example: finance, financial, money
• To find documents including one word, but without another word, use 'not' before the word you want to exclude.
   Example: computer not programming
• To find an exact phrase, use quotation marks.
   Example: "Criminal Justice" - will find this exact phrase, but will not find 'Criminal' or 'Justice' as single words.
 
Case Sensitivity:
• Use lower case letters if you want to find all matches of your keyword.
   Example: graduation - will find graduation, Graduation, and GRADUATION.
• Use mixed case to find an exact case-sensitive match.
   Example: Graduation - will find Graduation, but will not find graduation or GRADUATION.
